VIDEO TRANSCRIPT: “Hi New Orleans, I’m Devin from the Krewe of Red Beans. Since COVID started we’ve been trying to create local jobs and save local businesses. We have a new idea, specifically for our local bars- our neighborhood bars, like the R Bar, where I’m sitting, enjoying a beer here today. I’m here to propose a really crazy idea that totally can work if you guys support it.

Basically, we’re going to save the bars of New Orleans, with this little glass bean. So on February 10th, 2021 the Krewe of Red Beans will launch Bean Coin. Bean Coin can save the local bars by creating essentially a prepaid bar tab redeemable at local businesses all over the city from 12th night until midnight on Halloween these things will be redeemable valued at $10.

But the bars need money right now. They need money today before they die. So we’re going to prepay 50% of whatever we raise directly to the bars. This supports the bartenders. This supports their overhead expenses. They have to pay rent and mortgage and insurance even though they’re closed- even though they can’t make any money. They still have bills to pay, and that’s what’s causing them to go out of business.

So if we want to save our bars, this little piece of glass might be the best bet we have. Basically, it’s our own currency that we can create ourselves that is locally made, sustainably made, made out of glass, recycled beer bottles. They will create local jobs, and best of all, 50% of the money that we raise we can give as a life support to our local bars. Because you know as well as I do, you don’t want to have to watch the Saint’s game at Starbucks.
